The Museum, created by the Cenacolo Italo Mus mineralogical group in 1978, has as its main aims those of collecting, classifying and making known the minerals of the Aosta Valley and numerous crystals and semi-precious stones from various parts of the world.
The exhibition has about 750 pieces, most of which come from the mountains near Saint-Vincent, in particular from Monte Barbeston, Emarèse, Brusson and Champorcher, sites notoriously rich in minerals.
The most beautiful and rare pieces come from gold, iron, magnetite and asbestos mines which are now abandoned. Very interesting are the very pure quartz, garnets and very rare local vesuvians.
The museum also has a collection of about 170 fossils.
