Market Square

One of the most famous squares of the city is Plaza del Mercado de Abastos. It is a beautiful square with a rectangular base, entirely surrounded by an arcade with arches and galleries. The architect was Ramón del Toro who, in designing it around the 19th century, respected the models used in the construction of the main Castilian squares. Originally, this was the site of a Dominican monastery dedicated to Santa Catalina.
