Just a few minutes by car from the famous and imposing Furlo Gorge, there is the fascinating natural canyon of the San Lazzaro Gorge with its striking Marmitte dei Giganti, cylindrical cavities shaped like large pots, where, according to legend, the giants cooked soups.
The gorge of San Lazzaro is a narrow and deep gorge, which takes its name from the place where it is located, the result of the erosive work of the river Metauro in the stretch between the village of Calmazzo and the town of Fossombrone. The charm of this gorge is linked to the high vertical walls that in some places reach 30 meters high.
