Lake Fiastra, in the province of Macerata, is artificial: it rises 685 metres above sea level in the Monti Sibillini National Park and was built in 1955 to provide electricity in the Fiastrone valley. Today it is one of the most enchanting corners of the Marche region, the ideal place to relax, swim, play sports, go hiking among castles and abbeys and cycle along its cycle path that runs all along the right side. The deep blue and the clearness of its waters, moreover, make it a valid alternative to the crowded beaches of the coast.
