The marble museum changed its name and is now called MagMa (Museum Workshop Geology & Marble). The Museum is located in the Boot of the Hainaut and lets you discover stone and marble. It presents an activity that once made the reputation of the region: the extraction of the red marble of Rance, used in Antwerp, Brussels and in the decoration of buildings such as the Louvre, the Palace of Versailles and the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican!
Let’s go into the exciting world of rocks: geology, paleontology, changes in the techniques of extraction, sculpture, processing, a showroom and a marmotheque rich in colors. And brand new: a room for children, a laboratory to learn everything about the Earth Sciences (volcanoes, earthquakes, fossils …)!
