Malacological Museum

The malacological museum of Vieste, which today collects about 13,500 specimens of shells, corals and similar, was born from the passion of Anna Ragni and Biagio Simone who during their travels have collected thousands of artifacts around the world, especially in Asian countries. It began as a private collection in 1975 and expanded over the years: it became a real museum in 1984 and began to attract many visitors. Over time, the owners decided to integrate the museum with a point of sale of shells and jewelry made by working with shells, corals and similar, ensuring the self-supporting activity and increasing tenfold the number of visitors. The museum, suitable for both adults and children, is open from April to October both in the morning and in the afternoon. Even in summer the opening is extended until the evening giving the possibility to visit it also to tourists who have spent the whole day on the beautiful beaches of the town.
