Overlooking the shore of the bay of bengal, having survived the restless waves of the tsunami in 2004, stands the shore temple, build the 8th century. It has been classified as unesco world heritage site since 1984.
According to the legends, shore temple once stood alongside with six other temples which were part of an ancient city, flooded by jealous gods because of its beauty.
