Machalilla National Park

Machalilla National Park is a protected area located on the coast of Manabí province in western Ecuador. The park covers an area of approximately 550 square kilometers and features a wide variety of ecosystems, including tropical forests, white sand beaches, and rocky cliffs.Machalilla National Park was established in 1979 to protect the flora and fauna of the region, as well as the archaeological and cultural sites of the ancient pre-Columbian civilizations that inhabited the area. The park is a popular tourist destination in Ecuador because of its natural beauty and rich cultural history.Among the park’s main attractions are the beaches of Los Frailes, known for its crystal-clear waters and cliffs, and Puerto López, a fishing village where you can take boat trips to spot whales.Machalilla National Park is also home to numerous archaeological sites, including ruins of the Manteña and Salango cultures.
