The central Palazzo Bernardini in Via Santa Croce hides, to tell the truth not even too much, a detail in its facade that seems to be the work of the devil himself, that is the jamb of a particularly curved window (located to the right of the door). This devilish evidence dates back to the time when the nobleman Martino Bernardini decided to have the palace built where there was an image of the Madonna. Many people suggested to him to include the sacred image in his project, but he preferred to listen to the devil who interfered and convinced him to remove it. When the work was finished, Martino noticed the bent jamb and made many attempts to put it back in place, but all in vain: it was, and still is, the testimony of the tempting devil, capable of persuading even rich and powerful people.
