One of the "Most beautiful villages in Italy", Lovere was defined by the English writer Lady Mary Wortley Montagu as "the most romantic place I have ever seen in my life". Wedged between the lake and the mountains, the town looks like a large amphitheatre with splendid palaces built with good taste and perfect architectural sense.
As an aperitif it is worth enjoying the light, the reflections and the soft lines of the landscape on the lakeside promenade. The restyling, completed in 2013, has given the town additional charm, providing it with a natural platform where you can enjoy the view, relax or sunbathe.
But if the lakefront isn’t lake enough for you, try going to the harbour and watching the typical boats and fishermen, bearers of ancient traditions and crafts.
