Established in 1986, the Bijou Museum is located a few steps from Piazza Garibaldi, in the basement of the eighteenth-century College of Santa Croce, a large complex that also houses the Library "Mortara" and the Auditorium. It is a specialized museum of historical-industrial heritage, a "unicum" at national level, which preserves a heritage of more than 20,000 objects, all produced by the different factories of Casalmaggiore between the late nineteenth century and the 70s of the twentieth century.
In the rooms of the Museum there are also tools, machine tools, photographs and catalogues that document what was an industrial phenomenon almost unique in Italy, the "golden century" of Casalmaggiore. An educational laboratory equipped with equipment for metal casting, welding and gilding is annexed to the Museum.
