Sant’Angelo Limosano, a small town just a few kilometres from Campobasso, has been considered one of the twenty most beautiful towns on our peninsula for these reasons: called the town of San Pietro Celestino, known as Pope Celestine V, Sant’Angelo Limosano so called because it was the fortress of the nearby town of Limosano and a treasure chest of traditions and treasures in the province of Campobasso. Characterized by incredible paths in the green, the so-called "tratturi", the village is ideal for trekking lovers who can take the notorious Celestine route, the same that the hermit monk faced in 1294 to reach Laquila and take the papal nomination. The inhabited centre is characterized by medieval ramparts arranged on three levels that lead to the church of Santa Maria Assunta in heaven.
