Sigulda, a small town with a name that sounds like that of a witch, at the gates of Gauja National Park, famous above all for its bobsleigh track. The bobsleigh track was built in Soviet times and is one of the very few that are also open to visitors and not only to professional athletes. In winter you can do a thrilling downhill run with regular bobsleighs, and in summer there are those with wheels. Sigulda boasts an ancient castle almost completely in ruins. The entrance to the castle is for a fee, two euros to admire the view of the river Gauja that crosses the gorges from the top of the tower, one of the few rebuilt parts.
