Lalbagh Fort also Aurangabad Fort is an incomplete 17th century Mughal fort complex located before the Buriganga River in the southwestern part of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Construction was started in 1678 by Mughal Subahdar Muhammad Azam Shah who was the son of Emperor Aurangzeb. His successor, Shaista Khan, did not continue the work, although he stayed in Dhaka until 1688.In the centre of the complex is a beautiful fort, not so high but well decorated, in red colour, with white contrasts and domes. All around flowerbeds and planters, with various paths for walking. On the 4 sides the outer walls of the site. On one side a rather beautiful period mosque in Mughal style. On the other side a building that served as a courtroom and contains a "museum".
