Lake Montagnoli, completed last November, is the largest Italian basin for artificial snowmaking. It is a real alpine lake of 36,000 square meters, capable of storing about 200,000 cubic meters of water, thanks to which during the winter the cannons can snow in a short time the many kilometers of slopes of the Madonna di Campiglio area.
Made by the Madonna di Campiglio Cableway Company, Lake Montagnoli does not look like an artificial work, but has all the appearance of a real alpine lake lying in a natural hollow among coniferous woods: in fact, all the details have been taken care of in order to insert it in the environmental context, starting from its soft and natural, non-geometrical shape, which integrates it perfectly into the natural landscape.
The Montagnoli Lake is located just below the Montagnoli Refuge, in the locality of Pian della Zedola, on the Spinale slope at an altitude of 1764 meters, and in summer it is a pleasant destination for a walk.
