More than for the works contained, certainly worthy, the Kolumba museum must be visited in person to appreciate the quality of the architectural space, inside and outside.
The building is itself a work of art, thanks to the skillful design of the architect Peter Zumthor, who skilfully recovers and integrates the Romanesque-Gothic remains of the medieval Church of St. Dove (Marienkapelle St. Kolumba) and the more recent chapel built in the 1950s. Almost a place dedicated to meditation, where the outdoor garden invites contemplation in the open air, viewing the remains of pre-existing buildings.
