Jinsha Site Museum stands as a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of Chengdu. Unlike the long-held belief that the Yellow River is the cradle of Chinese civilization, the discovery of the Sanxingdui civilization in Guanghan in 1986 challenged this notion. Sanxingdui, part of the mysterious Shu kingdom of the Shang dynasty, dates back 3,000 years.
In 2001, during real estate construction, the ancient settlement of Jinsha was unearthed, revealing over 5,000 precious relics. These included gold, jade, bronze, stoneware, a metric ton of elephant tusks, and tens of thousands of pieces of pottery and ceramics. The art museum now located at the site elegantly displays this treasury of artifacts, showcasing the historical significance of Chengdu.
Noteworthy among the relics is a circular golden emblem featuring four flying birds surrounding the sun, adopted as the symbol of China’s cultural heritage in 2005. The museum provides a captivating journey through time, offering a glimpse into the mysteries of the Shu kingdom and its contributions to Chinese civilization.
