Lutheran Church of the Redeemer is the only Protestant church in the Old Town, and it is also the tallest building in the entire neighborhood, towering over the entire Christian Quarter and Muristan and located around the corner from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The church was commissioned by Prussian Prince Friedrich Wilhelm and was built between 1880 and 1890 on land received as a gift in 1869 from the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. 177 steps lead to the highest point of the bell tower. It is worth climbing it to enjoy the view of the Old Town, the Mount of Olives and Mount Zion.
