Imerovigli, which the old Greeks often call by the gentler nickname of Merovigli. It is one of the 4 villages of Santorini built right on the edge of the ravine created by the caldera (Fira-Firostefani-Imerovigli-Oia), located 3 kilometers from the center.
Of the four villages, Imerovigli is the one located at the highest point, about 300 meters headlong above the sea. The permanent inhabitants number 500 and less, and it seems unbelievable that they could really exist, but how can one not envy them? Today as then, Imerovigli is a natural vantage point, either of pirates or of endless spaces.
Imerovigli Bears this fate even in its name: translated from the Greek it comes out, more or less, "daytime observation post." So be it, and lucky is he who has eyes to see, and heart to go all the way to Santorini to do so.
