The Rijksmuseum,with works by masters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, the most important art collection in the Netherlands has finally resurfaced after a decade of renovations.The Rijksmuseum is one of the symbols of Amsterdam. Impossible not to admire it if you visit the great Dutch capital. It will strike you right away, with its Renaissance style and distinctive underpass that leads to Museumplein, the large and leafy museum square.The imposing building that houses the museum, it is well known, serves as an ideal backdrop for the thousands of photos taken daily by the tourists who flock to Museumplein. But it is inside that the Rijksmuseum hides the best of itself.
As many as 8,000 works of art are on display, spread over four floors and as many as 80 rooms. The museum offers a history of Dutch (and other) art from the Middle Ages to the present day. Among the display cases and walls of the museum parade the great paintings of the Flemish masters, but also historical objects, sculptures, prints, photographs, period clothing, artistic artifacts and much more.
