The museum is located on the first floor of the Royal College of Surgeons. The Hunterian Museum is closed to the public until 2021 while the Royal College of Surgeons building is redeveloped. The museum can be divided into two parts: on the first floor you will find a huge collection of biological samples, fetuses, animals, tissues and organs many of which came from the collection of the Scottish surgeon John Hunter who in 1700 collected over 13000 samples that he decided to leave to the nation to make it a museum.
