Hungarian National Gallery

The Hungarian National Gallery, located in the Royal Castle in Buda, provides visitors with ten permanent exhibitions that present Hungarian and European art in a chronological order from the fourteenth century to modern times. The collection is dominated by painting, but the sculpture is also present. Individual exhibitions present Hungarian gothic art (including numerous triptychs), a medieval and Renaissance sculpture, Central European Renaissance and Baroque paintings, 19th-century painting, a sculpture from the turn of the 19th and 20th century, Hungarian realistic painting and Hungarian art after 1945. Worthy of attention is the exhibition of part of the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts. While the museum is under renovation, some of its exhibits have been made available to visitors at the Hungarian National Gallery. We will see here the works of the most outstanding European artists, such as Correggio, El Greco, Bruegel, Cranach, Van Dyck, Bellotto, Gauguin or Rodin.
