Hirta is known as a Ghost Town.This impressive bit of land was once home to an entire village, back in the 1930s. However, weather in the north of Scotland is no easy thing to battle, and the inhabitants moved to live somewhere warmer.One day they just got up and left. These stone homes now stand tall, unchanged, after 80 years. Many of them appear to be repairable, so who knows what the future stores for Hirta.
