Gulf of Asinara and the beautiful beach of Platamona

Blue sea, miles of fine white sand and Mediterranean scents make the large beach of the Gulf of Asinara one of the most welcoming and popular on the north-northern coast of Sardinia. Marina di Sorso, a small town a few kilometers from Sassari, is the continuation of the very long beach of Platamona. The sandy seabed, which slopes down rapidly, the water is mainly blue and transparent, and the lush, spontaneous vegetation around it, composed of junipers, thistles, dwarf palms and sea lilies, make it one of the most popular beaches on the Sassari coast. From the beach you can admire beautiful sunsets with the island of Asinara in the background. The Marina is undoubtedly one of the major attractions of Sorso but not the only one. Don’t miss the suggestive historical centre, the Roman and Phoenician testimonies, the legends about the main monuments of the city, such as the fountain of the Billellera, whose water would make all those who drink it crazy.
