Gros Morne National Park is a combination of sheer cliffs, freshwater fjords, high mountain lakes and many other spectacular landscapes. The thick oceanic crust and rocks of the earth’s mantle are exposed in this true natural wonder, and the demonstration of glaciation on an island makes the landscape truly spectacular.
The park offers visitors the opportunity to go hiking in the wild and uninhabited mountains, to take boat trips below the towering cliffs formed by glaciers, to rest at night in a campsite on the beach. The villages along the coast full of colourful houses, friendly people and many wild animals will put this area on your list of places to visit. Common whales, rostrate whales and seals are common in the park waters, as are Arctic hares and caribou on land.
