Tindari’s beauty still survives in his remains. Besides the famous sanctuary of the "Black Madonna", not to be missed is the Greek-Roman theatre built with sandstone blocks by the Greeks in the 5th century B.C., later modified by the Romans to adapt it to circus games.
It was built on the natural hollow shape of the hill, in which the steps of the seats of the cavea, which was supposed to hold about 3000 spectators, were excavated.
The structure overlooks the Gulf of Patti and from it you can see in the distance, sharpening the view, the enchanting archipelago of the Aeolian Islands in the intense blue of the legendary Tyrrhenian Sea.
Long abandoned and known only for the illustrations of the nineteenth century, since 1956 there is an art festival that includes events of dance, music, and of course theater.
Since 2001 it has hosted, in collaboration with Taormina, the Festival of the Theatre of the two seas.
