The Giovanni Sacchi Archive, commissioned by the Municipality of Sesto San Giovanni and the ISEC Foundation and managed by CS&L Social Consortium, collects the materials once kept in the workshop of Giovanni Sacchi, model maker for design and architecture. In particular, it provides a privileged point of view to deepen the process of conception and realization of a product, using both historical reconstruction and the possibility of practical experimentation through participation in workshops and thematic meetings. More than 400 models, prototypes and work in progress of design objects and architectural projects, 8000 drawings, 110 products, more than 10 thousand images and films, hundreds of documents, numerous machines and tools are stored here. In addition, the library collects volumes, periodicals, pamphlets donated by Giovanni Sacchi and is still expanded with new publications dedicated to model making and design.
For educational purposes, a part of Giovanni Sacchi’s modelling workshop has been rearranged, recovering the original machinery and equipment. This reconstruction of the working environment makes it possible to follow the development process used by Sacchi for the execution of an object. A part of the workshop has been equipped with a workspace with new machinery where it is possible to make models, follow turning and woodworking courses and organize workshops with students and professionals.
