Far from mass tourism, the main destination for lovers of eco-tourism, the coral-formed island off the coast of Borneo is easily reached by an internal flight from Kuala Lumpur airport. The island of Gaya is home to Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, which gives its name to the natural park of the same name, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
