Along the course of the Pollina river, near S. Mauro Castelverde, it is possible to admire one of the most interesting places of the naturalistic Sicily. It is the Gole di Tiberio, a narrow passage that the bends of the river make between two high rocky ridges. The uncontaminated nature, together with the marvellous play of light that the reflections of the water project on the rocky wall, give to this place a magic atmosphere difficult to find elsewhere.
It is possible to enjoy the experience to the full by taking advantage of the work of the Madonie Outdoor Association who, on payment of a ticket, will accompany you in an inflatable boat along the first stretch of the river and then on foot to the end of the course, where it will be possible to bathe at a point where the water is deeper.
The experience is obviously to be done in the summer time. You will need a
Gole di Tiberio 2bathing suit (useful also in case you don’t want to take a dive) and some "wet" shoes, in fact it is advisable not to undertake the route barefoot, not even in the water stretches.
