Galicia | The Cíes Islands: "The Islands of the Gods".

"The islands of the gods", that’s how the Romans called the Cíes Islands in Galicia. Today they are still an idyllic paradise, where you can enjoy the nature and the sea of northern Spain. When you get to know them you’ll immediately understand why The Guardian chose their main beach as the best in the world. Paradise on earth? If they’re not, they’re pretty close. Crystal clear, deep turquoise waters. Beaches of fine white sand. A lake whose transparent surface lets you glimpse the great variety of fish that populate it. The tropics? No, the Cíes Islands, in northwest Spain. There are three of them and you’ll find them in the Rías Baixas of Galicia, off the coast of Vigo. This archipelago is not only a dream setting but also has enormous ecological value. The beautiful landscape is part of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands, which is impressive for the richness of its seabed and home to some of the most important seabird colonies in the world. The Atlantic Ocean, dunes, pine forests, cliffs… You will see that the Cíes is an incredible landscape, worthy of the gods.
