The design is all in black along with it's surrounding gates with the fountain itself in terracotta. The Fountain of Justice is the oldest fountain in Frankfurt and its history dates back to 1543. The object is entered in the register of monuments. The statue presents the goddess Justitie as a symbol of fertility. Her character holds a sword and weight, but unlike the traditional image, she has no blindfolded eyes. At her feet there are reliefs depicting the embodiment of virtues. They are justice, moderation, hope and love.

The first reconstruction of the fountain took place in 1611. The sculptor Jan Koch took the red sandstone monument to make.
