Messina focaccia is a typical specialty of Messina gastronomy. Its preparation is very common in the city and also in the province of Messina.
The dough is fluffy and high, and to the focaccia even today at the end of rising the typical island dressing is added. And on top of the Messina focaccia are escarole, fresh tomatoes, anchovies, and the famous Messina tuma.
