On the top of the city of Florence, even higher than Piazzale Michelangelo , stands the church of San Miniato, on Mons Fiorentinus . A steep staircase will lead you to one of the most fascinating churches in all of Florence. The facade, with the typical geometries of white marble and green serpentine from Prato , once again recalls Romanesque-Florentine art. The interior of the church is unusual, with the presbytery and the choir on a platform raised above the crypt, which is accessed via two lateral stairways. Needless to describe the panorama that can be enjoyed from such a high vantage point!
