The kauppahalli (covered market), built in 1889, is one of the best in Finland and, although a bit touristy, really worth a visit. The kauppatori, also known as the fish market, is a good place to buy salmon soup, cheap snacks and fresh produce such as berries. Almost all the stalls provide plastic chairs and tables on summer afternoons.
