Espoo Cathedral is the Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral of Espoo, Finland, and is the seat of the Diocese of Espoo.
The church, which dates back to the Middle Ages, is the largest and oldest historical building in Espoo.
It was designed in the late 15th century by an unknown master and was built between 1485 and 1490. Today the only original parts of the medieval church are the eastern and western part of the nave. The pews and the pulpit were built after the Reformation in the early 16th century. The organs were added at the end of the 18th century.
The original church was built according to a three-aisle plan and was later expanded under the influence of the architect Pehr Granstedt between 1821 and 1823. Some parts of the church, including the original sacristy, were dismantled during this expansion.
The vaults and walls of old parts of the cathedral are decorated with frescoes from 1500. They mostly depict biblical scenes.
