One of the links of Portuguese golf, among the 10 best courses in Portugal. It has achieved international notoriety after hosting two trials of the European Tour.
Located just 20 minutes from Porto International Airport and close to Póvoa de Varzim, a lively summer resort, the Estela Route, built along three kilometres of beautiful dunes on the Minho coast, offers wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Designed by Portuguese architect Duarte Sottomayor, it is a typical Scottish link, unlike the turf used, Bermuda. Two large lakes make the route even more pleasant and when the wind blows it can become very demanding. The wrong exit pitches are strongly penalized by the sand of the dunes. It is best not to miss the fairway, as the chances of reaching the green with a second shot are a real challenge even for the best golfers.
In seventh place in the biennial list of the best Portuguese courses drawn up by "Golf Europeu" magazine, it has already hosted two events of the European Tour: the Portuguese Open in 1991 and the Open do Atlântico/Vinho Verde in 1990.
