This six-acre sculpture garden at the base of the Stellenbosch mountains showcases more than 60 pieces by Dylan Lewis, an iconic South African sculptor.

It’s not on the Stellenbosch wine trail, so it’s tricky to locate, but once you get there it’s well worth it. The carefully curated garden is blanketed with fynbos—a stark contrast to Lewis’ bronze sculptures.

Although the grounds feature some of his most iconic pieces, there’s no one piece de resistance; rather, each sculpture stands on its own against a thoughtful, visually arresting backdrop.

This sculpture garden is a full-scale visual experience, not a traditional gallery. You could spend hours getting lost along the winding paths, which lead to secret nooks and sculptures, both small and monumental. Make sure to carve out ample time for your visit—fortunately there’s a small café for recharging.
