The bridge, the Gothic cathedral, art and music. In the footsteps of Monsieur Sax, the inventor of the saxophone born right here in Dinant. One of the most important tourist destinations in Belgium and one of the most beautiful towns in Europe, Dinant is located in the centre of the country, in the Ardennes. The overall view is breathtaking; the village is located on the banks of the Moselle, between the Gothic cathedral of Notre Dame and the picturesque Citadel. According to legend, Dinant was the birthplace of the river whose waves deposited it at the base of the stones of the Ardennes.
An itinerary to visit Dinant can only start from the beautiful citadel, to reach it you have to walk 408 steps; for all the others there is the funicular. The Citadel was built in the sixteenth century by order of the princes of Liège and after many alterations, today it appears in the "version" of the nineteenth century, when it was rebuilt during the Dutch occupation. Don’t miss the museum of arms and the belvedere from which you can admire the river and the city: a breathtaking view.
