If you want to see Death Valley from a privileged vantage point, you have to take the 28-kilometre road that begins near CA 90 and ascends the Black Mountains on the park’s eastern border to Dante’s View esplanade. This site is a lookout terrace at 1,669 meters on the north side of Coffin Peack, on the crest of the Black Mountains, approximately 40 kilometers from Furnace Creek.
