The Antico Frantoio dell’olio is located in the historical centre of the town, inside an old, recently renovated building. The place is worth a visit because it proposes all the phases of the olive processing starting from the milling to the pressing and harvesting of the oil. The oil mill, dating back to the XVII-XVIII century, was in activity until not many years ago, when it belonged to Mr. Carlo Bartoletti.
This is the largest and oldest oil mill in the area; it is important evidence of the olive tree cultivation, which was already widespread in the 15th century in the Duchy of Montefeltro. Since its origins the oil mill was called "Il Montano". The term perhaps derives from the Latin "molendium" which means mill, through a series of linguistic transformations.
The structure consists of a millstone for crushing and pressing olives and a powerful oak wood beam, to which a stone counterweight is anchored.
