Varieties
Sangiovese: minimum 85%. Grapes from other similarly colored, non-aromatic grape varieties, suitable for cultivation in the Region of Tuscany, may also be used in the production of this wine, up to a maximum of 15%.
Characteristics
colour: ruby red, tending towards orange-red with ageing;
aroma: vinous, intense and elegant;
flavour: dry and harmonious;
minimum total alcoholic strength by volume: 12.00% vol;
minimum total alcoholic strength by volume: 12.50% for the Riserva;
minimum total acidity: 4.5 g/l;
minimum non-reducing extract: 23.0 g/l and minimum 25 g/l for the Riserva.
