Rarotonga is described in the brochures of the tourist board as the last paradise on earth. In fact, in recent years the island has experienced a significant increase in tourism, especially of New Zealand origin, which has led in a relatively short time to the construction of myriads of accommodations along its coastline.
Rarotonga is a mountainous island whose coastline is entirely surrounded by coral reefs that form a lagoon all around. The southern coast is low and sandy while the northern coast is high and rocky.
