The Foraniale Sanctuary of St. Francis of Paola is located in the historic center of Spezzano della Sila. A simply crafted wooden statue of the saint, the work of local artists and dating back to 1700, is venerated in the shrine. The convent-sanctuary was built in 1450 by the Friars Minor; in about 1700 the building underwent renovations ordered by Bishop Minimum Perrimezzi. Inside are preserved prestigious works of art such as wooden busts in the Baroque style from the 17th century, paintings of the Holy work by Friar Bernard of Celico, and works by Santanna such as "Escape to Egypt," "The Nativity" and "The Coming of the Magi."
