Belfast City Hall is an imposing Renaissance-style structure located in the center of Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Built between 1898 and 1906, City Hall was designed by architect Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas.The structure features a large central atrium, decorated with fine marble, mosaics and sculptures. On the ground floor are the council chambers, while the second floor houses the reception rooms and library.The facade of City Hall is decorated with numerous sculptures, including those representing Queen Victoria, industry and commerce, navigation, and the arts. At the top of the bell tower, some 53 meters high, is a gilded copper statue of the Greek goddess Nike, representing victory.City Hall is a major landmark in Belfast and is open to the public for free guided tours. The inner courtyard often hosts cultural events and happenings, such as concerts and exhibitions.In addition, City Hall was also the site where the Good Friday Agreement was signed in 1998, which ended three decades of armed conflict in Northern Ireland. For this reason, City Hall is considered an important symbol of peace and reconciliation in the region.
