Church of San Pietro di Crepacore

Crepacore is a district near Torre Santa Susanna: inside a farm five kilometres from the town there is the small Byzantine church of San Pietro di Crepacore; it was built on the ruins of a Roman villa with the carpara stone that characterizes many buildings in Salento. It has an architectural layout similar to a fortress. The square plan has i that correspond to 18 Byzantine feet (a Byzantine foot was about 31 and a half centimeters), in Greek numerals the initials corresponded to the name of Jesus.
