The church of San Domenico is one of the most famous sacred buildings in Arezzo and in it is kept a wooden crucifix recognized as one of the earliest works of Cimabue. Just enter through its portal to find yourself walking in the Middle Ages. Every detail speaks of the past. This church of the thirteenth century, with its asymmetrical facade, with the bell gable and the two bells of the fourteenth century can transport us on a real journey back in time. Just cross the threshold to admire its single nave, the majestic wooden trussed ceiling and the frescoes inside. Here, in the half-light and silence of San Domenico where the first Conclave in the history of the Church was hosted, rests undisturbed for almost 800 years, one of the masterpieces of the history of art of the thirteenth century: the painted wooden Crucifix by Cimabue.
