Church of Saint Lazarus

The Church of Saint Lazarus, is a late-9th century church in Larnaca, Cyprus. It belongs to the Church of Cyprus, an autocephalous Greek Orthodox Church. Agiou Lazarou was built by Byzantine Emperor Leo in the 9th century and lies over the tomb of Saint Lazarus. According to tradition, when Saint Lazarus came back to life, he arrived at Larnaca and became the first Bishop of Kition. His tomb can be seen under the sanctuary of the church. The church has many iconic elements that are common in Byzantine art, one of each describes Lazarus coming back to life
