Chateau de Jumilhac

Chateau de Jumilhac The 1st Count of Jumilhac (1597), an alchemist and scientist, left a Romanesque and mysterious imprint on this feudal building (12th to 15th century). One room, decorated with esoteric frescoes, was home for thirty years to “La Fileuse”, the sequestered wife of a jealous husband. The Renaissance roofs with allegorical ridge tiles that are unique in France and the panelled 17th-century rooms demonstrate the magnifi cence of the Jumilhac family, who became marquis in 1655. The thematic gardens are journeys on a discovery of gold and alchemy.
