CCBB Rio de Janeiro – one of the most important cultural place of Brazil

CCBB Rio de Janeiro, occupies the historic number 66º from Primeiro de Março street, in downtown, building of neoclassical characteristics and in the past was launched in 1880, making the Francisco Joaquim Bethencourt da Silva (1831-1912) project, architect from the Imperial house, founder of the Propagadora Society of Fine Arts and the Arts and Crafts Lyceum. In the end of the 80s, rescuing the symbolic and architectural value at a cultural Centre. The project of adaption preserved the refinement of the columns, of the ornaments, marble that rises from the foyer by the stairs and rework the dome on the roundabout. Inaugurated in October 12nd, in 1989, CCBB Rio de Janeiro transformed itself quickly in one of the most important cultural place of the country. It’s the most visited cultural institution of Brazil and the 20º in the world, according the ranking of the English publication The Art Newspaper (April/2014).
