The Caves of Castelcivita, also known as the Caves of Spartacus, extend for several kilometers in the massif of Monti Alburni, in the municipalities of Castelcivita and Controne, but only 1700 meters are accessible to visitors. It is a complex of karst cavities particularly rich in stalactites and stalagmites of a thousand forms, with a total length of about 4800 m, are now one of the largest speleological complexes of southern Italy.
The visit to the caves of Castelcivita certainly gives unique emotions, whatever the route you choose between: tourist route, amateur route and speleological route. Inside the caves you can admire the succession of landscapes that change from one "room" to another, each with its own particularity such as "the pagoda", a monumental stalagmite, or the Prince of Piedmont Hall which has a column made up of elegant horizontal disc-shaped elements, the Wells of Death, deep vertical cavities almost completely filled with water.
